Provident Life & Accident Insurance Company
Let Our Experienced Disability Lawyers Help with Your Disability Claim
For years, many professionals opened policies with the Provident Life & Accident Insurance Company. Although the company stopped issuing policies in the early 2000s, policies issued in the 1990s and early 2000s are still valid. These policies are typically occupation-specific and allow high monthly benefits on good terms. Unfortunately, those policies are now administered and paid by UNUM. As an insurance company, UNUM is notorious for denying valid disability claims and terminating disability benefits
If you are struggling to get your Provident disability claim approved, Dabdoub Law Firm can help. We have experience with all major disability insurance companies, including Provident and UNUM.

Proving Your Claim to Provident
When filing a disability insurance claim, having a doctor’s note is not enough. Per Provident policy language, you must be unable to perform the duties of your regular occupation to qualify for benefits. After 24 months, you must be unable to perform the duties of every occupation. UNUM has a reputation for terminating benefits after the 24-month mark. As such, you need to be ready for review from the moment you submit your initial claim.
Our disability insurance lawyers can help.
When Insurance Companies & Medical Professionals Disagree
Even if you have the most convincing evidence of your disability, Provident/UNUM could decide to deny your claim. Insurance companies occasionally disagree with doctors and recruit their own doctors to evaluate your claim.
If this happens, your insurance company may deny your claim or terminate your disability immediately, or they may explore your claim further. You can appeal a denied claim or terminated benefits, but you should know that your insurance company will dig deeper into your claim.
Insurance companies like Provident and UNUM use two primary tactics to try to disprove your claim. They may ask for an Independent Medical Examination (IME) and/or a Functional Capacity Evaluation (FCE), and when you agree to these appointments, they may use the opportunity to put you under video surveillance.
Whenever your insurer requests an IME or FCE, you should contact an attorney to understand your rights. Our team at Dabdoub Law Firm can help you prepare for these appointments and gain additional opinions, if necessary. In some cases, insurers will highlight only the parts of IMEs and FCEs that are favorable to them, but we can review all evidence and explain the truth of the matter.
How We Help
Typically, we gather evidence, send a letter, and wait for insurance companies to cooperate. If they refuse, we are prepared and not afraid to take them to court in a disability lawsuit. Disability insurance is governed by federal ERISA law, and it is illegal for insurance companies to act against your best interests. If they do so, we help hold them accountable.
A Firm Devoted Entirely to Disability Claims
Disability insurance law is complex; it is critical that you work with an experienced attorney who understands the ins and outs of disability and ERISA law. At Dabdoub Law Firm, we devote 100% of our practice to disability insurance claims. Our attorneys are entirely focused on helping clients fight for their rightful long-term disability benefits. When it comes to handling these cases, our team is ready to go to federal court—and we know how to win.
Dabdoub Law Firm provides nationwide representation in disability insurance claims and related matters. Because disability insurance is governed by federal law, we can assist you with your claim regardless of where you are located.
